SHATTUCK "TUCKER" ELY handles a broad-based commercial litigation practice with an emphasis in representing policyholders in insurance coverage matters. He has handled cases in state and federal courts around the country and has successfully tried cases to judges, juries, and arbitration panels. For the past three years, Mr. Ely has been selected as a “Georgia Rising Star” by Atlanta Magazine.

Insurance Coverage
Mr. Ely regularly represents policyholders in disputes with their insurance carriers. Mr. Ely has obtained substantial insurance recoveries for his clients under a variety of insurance policies, including commercial general liability, directors & officers liability, employment practices liability, commercial property, homeowners, and builders risk policies. Representing a wide range of clients, from international corporations to individuals, Mr. Ely has obtained coverage for claims relating to employment practices, intellectual property, construction defects, environmental and toxic tort liability, business interruption, and first party property losses from flood, fire, and other causes. In addition to advising policyholder clients, Mr. Ely has extensive experience in insurance coverage litigation and has successfully tried coverage cases to verdict. Representative cases include:

Commercial Litigation
Mr. Ely represents corporate and individual clients in a variety of business disputes. In addition to contractual disputes, Mr. Ely has experience in cases involving business torts such as tortious interference, breach of fiduciary duties, misappropriation of trade secrets, and fraud. He has also represented clients in shareholder disputes, RICO cases, and trademark and trade dress cases.

Mr. Ely regularly speaks on insurance related topics and is actively involved in numerous professional and community organizations.

Mr. Ely graduated with a B.A. in History from Emory University in 1994. He received his J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center in 1997.
